SUMMER HAPPENINGS HERE....

(Doing my Shelia thing! LOL)

This post is pretty random so hang on...
It's just some things we have been up to
so far this summer.

A visit to Cabela's...my husbands favorite place....
seeing the displays there~

See that happy smile...what man wouldn't like to come here?

This guy reminds me of the moose I walked right
into one morning on my walk at Fish Lake!

I had just rounded the bend in a trail and walked right into him (this close too) as he was having his breakfast. Thank goodness my golden retriever had good sense, he came right to my side and ever so quietly pushed against my hip as if to say..."Keep walking!" or I might have been in trouble!

My husbands big dream...

Lots of horse rides going on here...we saddle up and take of in any direction~

I saw this darling picture up at a nearby lodge...
just had to share it with you, I think it is SO cute!

This little baby cottontail bunny came to my house for a visit...isn't he cute?!

He was as calm as can be...it was so fun to hold him!

Our little cat found him down by the hay stack, I think she thought he was a baby kitty, so she hauled him up to the house. Ron found him just sitting by our door, so he picked him up and brought him in to show me. He wasn't hurt or anything, we'd put him down and he'd hop around. We enjoyed him for a bit then Ron took him back down to the hay stack where they all live, and let him go. I had never seen one this close up or held one...it was so fun!

A most beautiful sunset....

This had been a crazy moment, just before this peaceful sunset,
we had the wildest rain storm filled with lightening...very unusual here!

We have had lots of gray, cloudy days with rain...this whole summer has felt very strange!
It's not like that here...mostly dry with lots of sun...but it has been a blessing to have the rain.

Ron just out with the horses, letting them graze on the green feed and enjoying the sunset~

Our little grandson Kelton...playing T-Ball...
mostly comparing teeth with the little girl there on 3rd base!

And Brody swinging at the ball...this age is so funny to watch...
most of the time they have no idea what is going on...but they are so cute!

And last...more tourists...stopping to take pictures of us...
I hope they see me taking pictures of them! LOL

I had a lady leave a comment the other day...
she said she had passed by my home but didn't dare intrude
by stopping to say hi. I want all my blog friends to know that if you come this
way...and pass my home...I want to you stop and say hi...you are
always WELCOME here! We'll sit out on the deck and enjoy a diet Pepsi
and have a good old chat!

I hope you are all having a great Summer so far...
I think maybe this week we will be getting that new
grand child...keeping my fingers crossed!

OUR WEEKEND OF GOOD DEALS....

I have seen these glass chickens before but never a red one, so I was so happy to find this one.
I think it's a little candy dish...it sure is pretty sitting by a window,
the sun shines through it and it just glows... Such a fun find for $10.00!

I loved this old typewriter...it was only $24.00 and it even
came with a ribbon and it works...very cool.

I have been wanting a set like this for a long time, they are so bright and cute!
The whole thing with the pitcher and basket was $32.00...
I just love it on my kitchen counter!

I think my Mom had a set like this so for sure I loved them...just $6.00

Ron and I went to this place called..."Gardners Village"...
it's an old mill in the Salt Lake City area. It has always been my favorite place to go and shop.
Each shop is a little old house or cottage with different themes. Usually I have gone with my daughters but it was fun to go with my hubbie!
They have 2 covered bridges there...lined with all kinds of cowboy boots...cute!

My honey...isn't he a sweetie-pie?! LOL
He doesn't like to smile for a picture, so I had to
say something to him that he liked!

So many pretty things to see...you walk in and beautiful music is playing,
makes me want to start waltzing!

Outside, between the cottages are beautiful flowers everywhere.
You should see this place during each holiday....wowza!

So many pretty things to adore....

Isn't this the sweetest little dress?! I should have bought it for our
newest little grand daughter but it was costly!

I feel so feminine in this shop...it just takes one away!

The main part is the old mill...it is full from top to bottom with everything you would
just love to buy! And there is a most delicious place to eat there too so we had lunch and it was so good!

The ole water wheel...it's so peaceful there to sit and listen to the water...

I also have been wanting one of these forever...it looks so pretty sitting
on my kitchen counter and I will store all my goodies here!

Another good deal...$50.00 sunglasses...on sale for $12.00...can't beat that!

And then last but not least...we bought this grizzly bear lamp...it's huge and
very beautiful. Our home is more rustic so it fits in beautifully!

Several had asked to see the goodies from our weekend adventure up north...
(that's what we say when we go to Salt Lake City...up north...it's 3 hours north of us)

So there you go...a very fun trip with the Hubbie and goodies to enjoy in our home too,
A very fun weekend trip indeed, sometimes I think a short trip is as good as a vacation!

~I hope you are having a great week~

WHAT A FUN WEEKEND....

Summer time...when the living is easy...at least it is for my little Samantha
she really loves her bed. She hauls lots of catches into the garage...lizards,
baby cottontail rabbits, (we saved that little guy) little dead mice...she doesn't eat them, just wants to play with them!

There' s a herd of buffalo that live down the road about a mile from me...yes, I live
where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play..really!

The buffalo belong to these people, they own this beautiful lodge that is open
to the public. It's such an oasis, it couldn't be more beautiful!

For the 4th of July Ron and I went to the parade in this town...it's called Torrey, it sits

right under these beautiful red mountains...this is about 5 minutes from our home.

At the parade we saw all kinds of people and their dogs...
this is what I love about small town parades.

These people own a horse ranch here...these horses would stand really still,
then off they would go on a real fast walk, really cool~

I talked to a lady that was packing this little dog around.
The dog is an old lady...13 years old, isn't she sweet?!

lots of old trucks...

and horses...it's the country you know!

The local cheerleaders..cute!

This is pretty cool for these kids~

And there is always a "Smokey the Bear" in a country parade!

Kids and more kids...

Always fire engines too...

And more kids...this is Utah you know LOL

The kids and my husband thought this was so cool...it would roar it's
engine like it was going to take off~

More trucks...

Home made cars...

These people all own weiner dogs, there's a bunch of them here~

more dogs...this was a cute guy~

Mr. Red White and Blue I guess... maybe even Uncle Sam!

Always sweet smiles to greet us when we get home...Cougar and Sammy~

We had such a fun weekend....we are all tuckered out (as you can see).

We went to the parade, then came home and gathered up the dogs and went up to Fish Lake for lunch at the old lodge there, went for a walk on the fish lake trail. Came home, saddled up out horses and went for a ride up along the mountains.

The next morning we took off for the city (Salt Lake City)...stayed over night there, went shopping the next day at Cabela's....Tai Pan....and Gardners Village. It was so much fun...no kids, just me and my sweetie..we ate out, shopped and bought some neat stuff...I will share more of that later.

I have missed out on your posts...so I am off to check them all out...
be patient with me, I'll try to catch up with you as soon as I can!

I hope you all had a great weekend too...HUGS TO ALL OF YOU :D

MEMORIES OF SOMETHING DELICIOUS....

When I was a little girl, my Dad would take my sister and I into town on Saturday's.
He would take us to a movie and then out for an A&W root beer float.

Nothing tasted as good as this did on a hot summer afternoon!
It's a treat that has been around since 1919 and it's is still one of my favorites.

It was so fun as a teenager to stop at A&W after school for an icy root beer float...nothing was as fun as that stop everyday.

Later, as a Mom with my first child, I used to strap him in our old orange Willy's Jeep and off we'd go to town...to get a root beer float!

I suppose that's why I still love A&W root beer the best... even today!

~~~~~~~~
Here's a recipe for you...
" QUICK HOMEMADE ROOT BEER "
Dissolve a 5 lb. bag of Sugar in 1 gallon of hot water
Add: 4 gallons of cold water
1 bottle of root beer syrup
Add: 8 lbs. of dry ice into a 10-gallon
container with the root beer mixture.
Dry ice will add fizz.
This takes approximately
30-45 minutes
In my mind a root beer float is the best treat for a hot day!
Creamy...icy cold...delicious
Another recipe...
" ROOT BEER CUP CAKES "
In a large bowl cream:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
until light and fluffy.
Add: 2 eggs, one at a time.
Beat well after each...
Combine:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. allspice
Add to creamed mixture,
alternately with
1 cup root beer
beating well.
Fill paper-lined
muffin cups 2/3 full
Bake at 350* for 18-22 minutes
Cool 10 min. in pan, then remove
them to a wire rack to cool completely.
" FROSTING"
1 1/2 cups whipped topping
(or) Cool Whip
12 root beer barrel candies, crushed
Combine...frost
1 dozen
(OR)
1 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp. root beer extract
a few T. hot water
to make it spreadable.
