WHAT A FUN WEEKEND....

Summer time...when the living is easy...at least it is for my little Samantha
she really loves her bed. She hauls lots of catches into the garage...lizards,
baby cottontail rabbits, (we saved that little guy) little dead mice...she doesn't eat them, just wants to play with them!

There' s a herd of buffalo that live down the road about a mile from me...yes, I live
where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play..really!

The buffalo belong to these people, they own this beautiful lodge that is open
to the public. It's such an oasis, it couldn't be more beautiful!

For the 4th of July Ron and I went to the parade in this town...it's called Torrey, it sits

right under these beautiful red mountains...this is about 5 minutes from our home.

At the parade we saw all kinds of people and their dogs...
this is what I love about small town parades.

These people own a horse ranch here...these horses would stand really still,
then off they would go on a real fast walk, really cool~

I talked to a lady that was packing this little dog around.
The dog is an old lady...13 years old, isn't she sweet?!

lots of old trucks...

and horses...it's the country you know!

The local cheerleaders..cute!

This is pretty cool for these kids~

And there is always a "Smokey the Bear" in a country parade!

Kids and more kids...

Always fire engines too...

And more kids...this is Utah you know LOL

The kids and my husband thought this was so cool...it would roar it's
engine like it was going to take off~

More trucks...

Home made cars...

These people all own weiner dogs, there's a bunch of them here~

more dogs...this was a cute guy~

Mr. Red White and Blue I guess... maybe even Uncle Sam!

Always sweet smiles to greet us when we get home...Cougar and Sammy~

We had such a fun weekend....we are all tuckered out (as you can see).

We went to the parade, then came home and gathered up the dogs and went up to Fish Lake for lunch at the old lodge there, went for a walk on the fish lake trail. Came home, saddled up out horses and went for a ride up along the mountains.

The next morning we took off for the city (Salt Lake City)...stayed over night there, went shopping the next day at Cabela's....Tai Pan....and Gardners Village. It was so much fun...no kids, just me and my sweetie..we ate out, shopped and bought some neat stuff...I will share more of that later.

I have missed out on your posts...so I am off to check them all out...
be patient with me, I'll try to catch up with you as soon as I can!

I hope you all had a great weekend too...HUGS TO ALL OF YOU :D

Wish I could find a small town 4th parade to attend...they have one in Hyrum, Utah, that I attended every year I can remember until moving away. I miss the small town celebrations! Looks like your day was lots of fun.

I did go to Mesa AZ main street party in the evening for a little celebration, bands, classic car show, vendors, etc. followed by a fireworks celebration. It was fun but so stinkin hot...it had been 114 degrees that day and was still 104 in the evening....too hot for me!

G'eve Julie ~ Nothing better than a hometown good old parade & celebration ... you captured everything so beautifully. We have a gigantic herd of buffalo not far from us just over the PA border. I love visiting them & seeing the wee ones ...

Have a lovely summer's eve ~

Looks like you were busy this weekend! Love the parades! Did people throw out candy for the kids and Kibbles and Bits for the dogs?

Since we live in Utah, we get to do this type of thing again in a few weeks! Get some rest!

What a great parade! I love small town parades with all the local people pitching in and especially all of the kids and horses. All your doggie pictures were great too, people here all take their dogs on these outings too.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Salt Lake City. The only time I have been in Utah is when one of our flights touched down there to pick up more people. It was so beautiful looking down on all of the mountains. Very different then here but each part of the country has it's own beauty doesn't it?

Take care and enjoy your summer. We are sweltering here with 90's plus temps! Yikes! That's hot for us!! I keep hosing the horses down and also the barn floor as it keeps it cool in there along with the big ceiling fans. Have to pamper my babies ya know!

Those mountains are so beautiful...I would love to stay at the Lodge. Your hometown parade is so much like ours...lots of kids, horses, trucks and cars...and of course fire engines. It's a standing joke that if a home in the Valley catches on fire during the parade, it will burn to the ground because every fire truck in a 25 mile radius is in the parade.

Rosie said...

Oh Julie...what a fun filled day...not sure you could jam pack anything else into it...well done dearest...happy day...Rosie

so much joy in these photos, Julie!
That 13 year old dog looks great for her age! nice clear eyes!

When I first saw a buffalo up close, I thought, Hmmmm that's where Disney got the idea for the Beast's face and his sound...

How you're keeping cool!
it's in the 90's here!
