LET'S GO FOR A RIDE TO THE PARKER....

I had to show you my sister in law's pretty flowers...
I just love them planted in an old washer machine. They also
have a green house just full of veggies and flowers that are thriving.

Jump in the Jeep, we are headed out to Parker Mountain. This is a favorite mountain of the Harward bunch, they have been deer hunting on it for years. Today we are rolling along listening to satellite radio and munching on goodies, enjoying the ride with soft leather seats...fun!

This must be Old Bossy...look at that sassy look!
The mountain is full of cattle and sheep that range
there all summer long.

Well, peek a boo to you too! The mountain is also full of deer, elk, bear, antelope, although the antelope are fewer in number this year. I loved how this deer was peeking out at us, I never get over their cuteness.

This Prairie dog was keeping a close watch on us as we entered his neighborhood!

If your not the driver you are the fence opener and shutter...well, somebodies got to do it!

Beautiful herds of deer everywhere...and yes, my
husband had his rifle, but just for spotting with the scope.

I am a good shot with a gun but I have never had the desire to kill a deer or any animal.

Yes, there are bear here too and there has been for years.
It spooks me a bit when we are up there riding our horses.

This is what the bear do to trees...use them for scratching posts!

I think this must be a Zebra Tree ;D

Roads lined with Quakes everywhere, I think we took them all!

The view from one direction at the top...breathtaking!
What an immense country and earth and world..no doubts here
who created and is in charge of the good earth!

Beauty hidden among the rocks on a windy hill...amazing!

All this green is the tops of new baby Quakes growing..kind of looked like the nursery to me, being watched over by all the mom's and grandma's...yes those are grandma thoughts. :D

Sheep with their babies everywhere and sheep camps and herders...

One of the herders...on duty...keeping a watch on us strangers!

An old homesteders cabin, setting on 650 acres in the middle of the
mountain, I imagine those were tough days, especially in the winter time.

A beautiful closing shot out my window...amazing.
And a fun day spent with some family.

LOVE TO YOU ALL

I love all the wild life!
What a beautiful drive you are having.
Glad you aren't the gate opener, that's a lot like work!

Hope you are having a great time....I can't imagine you NOT having anything but a great time.

Love the washing machine. Such a treasure.

I imagine the horses would get pretty spooked if a bear was close too. But it's beautiful to ride through the open lands. Any scenery that looks good from a car looks a hundred times better from the back of a good horse!

I come from a family of hunters, married into a family of hunters but I still couldn't bring myself to shoot one either. When my hubby watches hunting shows on tv I can't stand to watch them kill the animals but I am not against hunting, I just wouldn't do it.

Beautiful pictures, thanks for taking us on the ride with you.

What beautiful variety! It's amazing how much there is to see when we care to look. And when we live where there is such natural abundance...

It's especially fun when we get to travel amongst it all on leather seats! :)

Wow! Gorgeous photos, Julie.
You asked about diabetic cats..I see a lot of them now because too many indoor cats are over-weight and this is what happens to them. It is more often seen in males around 5 years and up. I have quite a few in my list of cat clients. They require 2 shots of insulin a day and a special diet.

Hi Julie, Thanks so much for taking us along on your ride today! It was so fun, I have not seen that kind of terrain since I was a kid. We went through Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, all of the "dry" states when I was a kid. You have very beautiful scenes around you!
Thanks again.

Hi Julie,
I have been trying to get over here for the longest time! I have been babysitting a lot and it sure cuts into the blogger time. I love these gorgeous pics and it's always neat to see the deer around you. They must be mule deer? We have whitetail and I can see the differences. What fun trips you take!

What a delightful ride. Such gorgeous countryside. I am partial to the beautiful desert looking flowers. They are so pretty. Your journey has brought back memories for me of rides from days gone by in Salina, Utah..riding around and hunting on what is known as "The Old Woman". Sure is nice to take time to stop and "smell the roses" ever so often. Thanks for a lovely post. xo

So beautiful, Julie! Love all of the sweet animals (well, except for the bear evidence) in each photos. Flowering cactus are not something I have seen in nature. Soft pretty flowers on prickly and thorny bases.... amazing!

Old Bossy sure does look sassy. Think I'd give him the right of way every time. (so sorry for my ignorance if he is really a she. You can tell this
suburbanite hasn't got a clue)

Hi there Julie! Wow what absolute fun! I would also be a bit "spooked" riding horseback with BEARS around!!It looks like you had a great, fun filled day out!

I scrolled through the remainder of your photos in amazement. What you see in your area of the country is so different from what we see, but you are right it is all beautiful and thanks to the blog world bringing us a bit closer together, we can all share in that beauty.
