~SENDING VALENTINE LOVE TO ALL OF YOU~
I wanted to show you the wreath on my front door.
My door is red as you can see, and I couldn't find anything for
Valentines Day that wasn't red like my door...so I decided to
make one of these white coffee filter wreaths. It was so so easy!
I just went to Google and there were several tutorials videos on
how to make one, chose an easy one, and it came together in 1 hour.

I used a 18" straw wreath circle and around 350 white filters and my glue gun.
I pulled the middle of each filter over the end of a marker, dabbed some hot glue
on the tip and pushed it slightly into the wreath, it went so fast and I just love it!

I looked out my window one morning to see my chickens on the front lawn...
Do you see what I didn't see at first glance? Look close, it's black like the hens...
Do you see what I didn't see at first glance? Look close, it's black like the hens...
Tada! It is a little wild black cat!
It has been hanging out with our chickens everyday. My husband puts
some dog food out for the chickens and this hungry little cat thought it was
for him. So, it has been sleeping in the chicken coop, and it follows the
chickens everywhere they go all day long.

I believe that it thinks it's a chicken!
When a chicken walks over to the cat, the cat will fall down
and roll over on it's back. What a cute friendship/family this is!
Just proves how much all of God's creations need love, us and little
wild kitties.

My inside cat loves to watch all of this going on...and she also loves
sleeping in this sunny spot under the old Singer sewing machine.

I groomed my little Bo the other day, he looked so cute!
But he didn't like it much...being without all that longer warm hair
gave him the chills, so I put his jacket on him and he hunkered down
in a warm blanket for the rest of the afternoon.

We have been gone visiting our littlest grands. I think the little ones
seem to grow the fastest and I just love to see them as often as we can
so they know who we are! This little dark eyed beauty is our sweet Claire.

Sophia, Ella and Caleb....waiting for a lane so we can all go bowling.
We waited and waited...but no lanes came available, so...
We all went to find a treat...here we are "pigging out," at a ice cream shop!
I went with my daughter Lindsey to "story time" at their local library.
They had a sweet greyhound there, his name was Darby.
Sophia loved him! He was a retired race dog and he was so gentle.
We had fun reading lots of stories...
And listening to stories....with Darby.
It was Lindsey's birthday, so we went shopping and out to lunch.
Sophia found something she just couldn't let go of...a snowman!
Here's a yummy Valentine treat for you...

We just love it! So cute the way the baby is hanging onto the U.

"THE FINDINGS OF A NEW STUDY"
A study was done by the University of Wisconsin-Madison
(about something all mom's already know) It was this....
Instant messaging can't compete with phoning mom when it comes to
quelling stress. This new study said that hearing mom's voice soothes in
ways that texting simply can't.
Just talking to mom reduced levels of cortisol, a stress bio marker, and
increased oxytocin, a key hormone related to healthy relationships and
pleasure. It also said that emails or computer contact was similar to no
contact at all. The comforting sound of a familiar voice like mom's is
responsible for the hormonal differences observed. Also, that a mom's
voice, it's tones and intonations and rhythms, triggers soothing effects.
So there you have it, something all mom's already know, so, what is the
moral of this study? Call your mom! You need it and so does she!
HAVE A SUPER WONDERFUL, LOVE FILLED, VALENTINES DAY!

Those Frosted Cherry Bars look sweet but not as sweet as those little ones you love so dearly.
What a delightful post! A pretty craft, delicious recipe and lots of family time. You covered it all :)
Loved it all Julie. That Claire is over-the-top adorable. The cat/chicken is worthy of a few posts. Looking forward to hearing more about it. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
Your wreath turned out sooo cute! How fun that you can make something with coffee filters besides coffee :-D
Your little grands are so darling and I love your thinking that they grow so quickly that you need to spend lots of time with them.
Happy Day!
Awesome post! I love all teh pics and the recipe, but most of all the information you shared. My son, 19, mostly texts, but when he CALLS, he wants to talk to me right then...I get it now. He just needs his Mama! ;) Love that.
I love the wreath and the cat is just adorable--Maybe it was a chicken in another life! :-))
But your post is all about what makes Valentines day so special, fun, family, friendship and oh yeah, food!! ~♥!~
I love the wreath! And it would be lost on our WHITE door! But it's such a great idea!!! Love all the pictures of your grandchildren. They are so beautiful! Enjoy your day!
What a great wreath Julie, just turned out so pretty!
I always love seeing pics of your grands...they are all so cute!
We have a stray cat too that has figured out how to get in our little cat door in the garage.
She is a sad little soul and I feel bad for her, so we feed her and she leaves.
I doubt she would stick around though, she is used to running.
I like that your study came from my Son and dil's alma mater!
Hugs,
Cindy
Julie..

You did a beautiful job on the wreath...looks straight from a specialty gift shop...so lovely. Your front door should now make that house SELL!!!!! ;-) The babies are beautiful too. Baby Claire has changed SO much...I love that the library allows animals to come in for various things. Kids and pets are just a great mix. Greyhounds are so sweet. Our neighbors had one in Charlotte.~ The treat looks AWESOME!!! and perfect for red and white Valentines too. Thanks for sharing...I believe the study about mom's voice ABSOLUTELY!!!! So yes...call your mamas...woot!

The grandkids are so cute. How do you stand their cuteness!
I love the chickens and cat.
I can't believe the cat is the beta animal!
Love that wreath you made out of the coffee filters. I'm so happy that you have been visiting grands, Julie! Story time at the library is the best. I'm with you on visiting as often as you can so they will know who you are. blessings ~ tanna
ps thanks for the recipe!
What a great idea for a wreath.
Happy Valentines day to you and your family.
Blessings
Julie -- love your new wreath. I made a brown one (brown coffee filters) awhile back. So easy and fluffy. Love the cherry bars too. My cats get chased by our chickens (and my daughter was afraid that they would try to attack them). Have a great V-Day. Joni
I love your Valentine Wreath, Julie! I am working on one for Easter/Spring. I am making it out of a straw wreath and Fun Fur yarn. It's amazing that the rooster lets that cat get anywhere near the hens! Wow! Have a wonderful weekend! :0)
Love this post. Wonderful Valentines wreath on your door...wonderful and good times with your family...funny chicken-cat, and a sweet treat to boot. All just right and cheerful. xo
I am so filled with joy every time I read your wonderful blog. Oh that darling black kitty thinking it's found a home with your chickens. That is so tender. I had to "Pin" your recipe for making in the near future. Another yummy from your kitchen. Julie, are you on Pinterest? Happy day wishes.
That pic of Sophia with the snowman is so sweet!
She's just absolutely darling...
Happy Love Day!!
xxoo,
RMW

~victoria~
I'm doing a repeat with my comment also...don't know why, but my first one said:

~victoria~
What a beautiful wreath on your door.
I love those photos of the grans and they do grow up way to fast.
Our little guy does the same thing when he gets groomed this time of yr.
I know this weekend with our cold temps under a blanket is where I plan to be.
Hugs
Oh goodness me, those frosted cherry bars just sang to me,(I swear I heard angels singing when I looked at that photo of them). I will most certainly be making those real soon.
Love the stray black kitty that thinks it is a chicken. It just proves that we all need someone to love and be accepted by.
Julie, Julie, Julie...I just love ya.
Love your wreath.
Looks like a fab. time with the grands.
and I'll have to "copy" that saying and send it to my kids (tee, hee)
A very precious and heartfelt post, Julie, I am so blessed. thank you for sharing. Enjoy your weekend, and a very happy Valentines Day too.
Hugs,
Sue
very interesting about mom's voice! It appears Bo is little embarrassed of his lack of fur -- how funny that he recognizes something is missing,
I love your white wreath on the red door, Julie! The recipe sounds very good, too. Your g'kids are sure adorable...enjoy your visit! Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweet family.
What a cure wreath! Thanks for the tutorial. :)
The white wreath is perfect on your red door! I adore red doors. Nice tid bit about moms at the end of your post.
Happy V-Day!
Love that wreath! Would it be able to withstand the weather? My door often gets wet this time of year. And I so want to try those cherry bars!
Sandy
Beautiful times spent with family. That's something I always know I'll find here.
The dessert looks wonderful and I love the little piece of advice there at the end!!
Blessings, Debbie
I love this post, Julie!
Your coffee filter wreath is awesome!
I'll bet you can switch out the red for Valentine's Day with some spring colors and extend the "life of the wreath" into spring and Easter!
I am very impressed with that cat... so kind to your chickens!
The library dog, Darby...what a sweetheart! My sister-in-law has a therapy dog. Rosie is so sweet too.
You can tell just looking at Darby's face that the dog is gentle as ever!
Wishing you a lovely lovely Valentine's Day! You are certainly surrounded by so much love! What a beautiful family, Julie!
Blessings always,
♥ Maria
Happy Valentine´s Day dear Julie! Just loved the story of the wild kitty with the chickens...you´d think he´d try and eat them being wild and not knowing for sure where the next meal was coming from...but obviously he´s a lover and wouldn´t hurt your chickens as long as they keep sharing their dog food with him ;-)
I constantly come back here to get my family fill...you´re so blessed with such a wonderful big family...I hope someday my kids and grandkids live nearby and we can have something similar. My luck they will follow in their mother´s footsteps and move far away from family...uff...but I can still dream and hope!
Lots of hugs from Norway :-)
You did a great job on your wreath...mine didn't turn out very pretty. :(
Happiest Valentine's Day to all of you...
xo bj
I hope my boy (soon leaving for college) will want to hear my voice often! :/
I love your wreath and want to try it...maybe even dye the filters.
That kitty story is precious. So many lessons God has for us in nature, which I love.
Happy Valentine's Day, Julie! xoxo I love the black cat that thinks he is a chicken! How cute! Looks like you have been enjoying some special time with your dear grands. They are all so adorable....you are blessed to have so many little valentines to love! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe! Can't wait to try it :) Your door looks beautiful with the wreath you made on it. Looks easy and fun! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine' Day today! Hugs and love to you always! xoxo Kim
Hello Julie,
I haven't visited your blog in a while. I just had to this morning because I knew it would put a smile on my face. First of all, that cat with the chickens, how adorble is that? Your wreath made out of white coffee filters looks wonderful on your red front door, and your grandchildren are simply adorable too!
Happy Valentines Day.
Hugs, Ann
Very interesting post, dear Julie. Your photos are so sweet of your little grands with the Greyhound and with you and grandpa.
Very interesting study, I know I love talking to my daughter and there are times when she needs to hear my voice.
Have a wonderful, love-filled Valentines!
Hugs, Cindy
Hi dear sweet Julie
Could not let this day go by without coming by and wishing you a very Happy Valentine's Day.
That black cat is so funny following his friends around.
Love your pic's of the babies and you.
Have a lovely day
Love
Maggie
Great job on your wreath! And the chicken kitty ~ scared for a moment that he was "stalking" them! Whew! So sweet that they're family now:)
Oh and your granddaughter touching the nose of that greyhound ~ so precious!
Happy Valentine's Day:)
~Cindy
Miss Julie~ your grands are just precious!
And I loved the story about the kitty and the chickens... how odd that it doesn't try to hurt them but instead just rolls over! So sweet!
I found your blog through Barb's. Your wreath is beautiful! Who would have thought that coffee filters could be used in such a way. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Your little sweeties just could NOT be cuter... Adorable... Love the card and love your Valentine's Day wreath too..
Happy Day!
Spencer
I have a red front door too, so I'll have to remember this:) Your cherry dessert looks/sounds fabulous! Happy Valentine's Day!
What a fun Valentine's post Julie! Oh those cherry bars look yummy!!!!
Your grands are so cute! And Bo is adorable too. Toby is currently sporting what I call "The Teddy Bear." He is so squeezable with his longer hair. But he has to get it cut. The other day he went out and the snow made ice balls on his tummy hair. He was so sad.
I've thought of doing one of those wreaths but figured it took forver. Thanks for telling us it doesn't. :-) Of course, I love seeing the little ones. Claire is growing soooo fast isn't she? They all do really...too fast for me.
Thanks for the recipe ~ it looks delish!
xo
