GINGERBREAD MEN COOKIES AT CHRISTMAS TIME....

Is there anything more fun than making cookies?
I don't think so, and I especially love making them
at Christmas time! Come, join the fun at my home.

Three beautiful and sweet girls, look what a great job they did!

"Ok, I'll come help too... but everyone just remember that this is my spot, so
stay off it, it's for me only you hear! And just to let you know, bribing me with
those cookies won't work either...my sun, my spot... just stay off, it's all mine!"

There is nothing more fun for me than baking with my grand kids.
I had them all over for a party one night, and we made some very
yummy gingerbread men cookies...we had so much fun!

Who doesn't remember the story of the gingerbread man who ran away?
I loved that story as a kid and right away, I wanted to make some of those
cookies, just to see if they would come to life when the oven door was opened
and run away...I just knew I could catch him!

FOUR GINGERBREAD MEN

Four gingerbread men sat on a tray,
The first said, "Lets run away!"
The second said, "Where will we go?"
The third said. "We'll have some fun!"
The fourth one said, "We'll be eaten if we stay."
So the gingerbread men all ran away!

I love them in all forms...

decorated with lots of frosting...
plain with raisins for eyes and buttons...
or just in a round cookie shape, or Christmas trees
etc. they are just so delicious with a tall glass of cold
milk or a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream!

~Easy Gingerbread Men Cookies~

1 small box...instant butterscotch
pudding mix.
1/2 cup...butter, softened
1/2 cup...brown sugar
1...egg
1 and 1/2 cups...flour
1 1/2 teaspoons...cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons...ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon...ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon...baking soda

In a 2 quart bowl, combine dry pudding mix, butter,
and brown sugar until creamy. Stir in egg.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, ginger
cloves, and baking soda. Slowly stir in flour mixture
until dough is formed. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly
floured surface. Using a cookie cutter, cut out your
gingerbread men and evenly space, (about 2 inches)
them on a baking sheet prepared with nonstick spray.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. (Be very careful as you open the
oven door, don't let them get away!) Cool on wire racks.
Decorate! Makes approximately 24 gingerbread men cookies.

Make this a time of remembrance for you and those little ones.
Have a great time and enjoy making these gingerbread men, they
are very easy and so very delicious! Have fun Merry Christmas-ing!

Julie this looks like a yummy recipe! I have never seen one with the butterscotch in it. There is a new marshmellow out here. They are in the shape of gingerbread men..and taste like gingerbread. We made rice-krispies with them..they were gingery tasting!

The top picture is that a cookbook?

What a darling post, Julie! I think it's my most favorite one ever. The cookies, stories and grands with grams all combine for delightful fun and holiday cheer.

We are on our way to Boise...hope you'll come see us for a fun road trip in the future.

Thanks for a fabulous new cookie recipe. I'm not posting my Top 5 Hits this week or you'd be on it. Consider linking to Jodi's cookie exchange linky party on Friday and share it further.

What sweet little kiddos and cookies. Wild Child just had to have the sugar cookies with the trees in the middle at the grocery store yesterday. I think I will make them and have them ready with some hot cocoa when she gets home from school.

O, Julie, I do the same thing with my grandgirls. Not all 7 at one time, tho....but, it WOULD be fun. :)
We usually wait until just a bit later and make cookies and candies. I love it so much...my heart swells so big, I think it might jump out of my body. I find myself saying "thank you, Father, for all these blessings" the whole time we are baking.
We will try these cookies this yr. They sound so delicious.

Thank you again Julie. All my favorite recipes come from your blog. We actually make gingerbread cookies, spread peanut butter on them and put raisins and bird seed on them then hang them in the trees for the animals at Christmas time. Last year our neighbors dog got ahold of them. We didn't mind sharing, but he ate the string too.
I LOVE the ones with the raisins, very traditional, but those decorated ones are adorable. Thanks again for sharing this recipe and the photos.
