A RECIPE...PETS...WAITING 4 SPRING~

We had the best meat loaf the other night for dinner! It was so good that I have been having meat loaf sandwiches now for two day. Wanted to share it with you, I hope you will love it too!

GLAZED BACON WRAPPED MEAT LOAF

Mix all of this together:

1 1/2-2 lbs. hamburger
1/2 c. cracker crumbs
2 beaten eggs
1 (8oz.) can tomato sauce
1 envelope dry onion soup mix

Mix and shape into a loaf, lay it
onto a Pam sprayed broiler pan.
This way, as it cooks, the grease
drains away from the meat and it's
not being baked in grease!

Lay thick sliced bacon over the top
of it, tucking the ends under the loaf.

Now, prepare your sauce.

SAUCE
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 T. dry mustard
1 tsp. tomato paste
2 T. water

Mix this together and then
brush it over the top of the
bacon on the meat loaf.

Bake it at 350' for...1 hour and 15 minutes.

Look how beautiful it is when it's baked, YUM
all crusty and sugary glazed and not sitting
in a pool of grease, so much more healthy this way.

I had my daughter and her kids for dinner that night and her daughter said; Grandma, does this have brown sugar in it?" I told her it did in the sauce and she laughed and said; yup, Mom said that you put brown sugar in everything you bake!" And I do love my brown sugar...it is always my secret ingredient!

We also had a delicious chocolate cream pie!
The recipe for that you will find as you scroll down a couple of past posts...it is so yummy!

Whenever I am in the kitchen cooking, I have a couple of helpers.

Our dog Cougar and his kitty. He has a couple of little buddies like this one...Bobby and Sammy. They all sleep together, the kitties curl up under Cougars chin and tummy or on top of him. They all wander the property together...such sweet friends. Every Golden we have had has been just like that..they are the best!

And then there are these two little house puppies!

They are always standing guard watching over the sheep way out in the field. Watching to see if Cougar comes peeking in the windows, making sure to reprimand him for that! Naughty little butts!

Yes Zak is spoiled...

And so is Mr. Bo Jangles...

Who me?! Yes you!
But we all go for our 4 mile walk each day and we all love that!

I guess Spring is on her way...our grand daughter MaKayla getting ready for soccer.

And me... with Easter egg colored toe nails...waiting for some nice Spring green grass to walk through. They say... "Spring is when you have winter slush in your boots but a whistle on your lips." Well, I am hoping... and I only paint my toe nails when I am ready for my flip flops and Spring and Summer...hoping still, even though the wind is wild and there was snow on the
ground this morning!

TO YOU MY FRIENDS

I'd like to be the kind of friend that you have been to me;
I'd like to be the special help that you've been glad to be.

I know I'm blessed for only God can make friends like you;
You know just how to cheer me up whenever I feel blue.

Could I but have one wish fulfilled, this is what it would be~
I'd like to be the kind of friend that you always are to me.

Have a wonderful week and weekend my friends...I send you all
wishes and prayers for peace and joy and love... to fill up your life.

Hi there Julie, I have to say that meatloaf looks mighty tasty. I will have to try this one out. You have so many tasty wonderful recipes. I am getting tired of the same old stuff! Hope spring finds you soon!

Yep, that first toenail painting means spring is on the way! Your blue nails look so cute!

That meatloaf looks so yummy...I'm going to try this! I think the leftovers on sandwiches is the best part of making a meatloaf! Mmmm!

That meat loaf recipe looks delicious! I'm not a big meat loaf fan, but hubby sure is. Maybe I'll surprise him by making it one day soon. Bacon and brown sugar: what could be better!

Love those toe nails! I see the tiny daisies! I was so excited to purchase a coupon for $20 for both a manicure and pedicure. I never get a manicure because they simply don't last on my busy hands. But a pedicure is one of my delights!

Not warm enough here to walk barefoot in the grass and even a tad chilly going without socks in the house but I want to enjoy my toenails!

Very sweet friendship poem!

A sweet joy visiting with you!

I tend to have to keep draining the grease out of the baking dish when I make meat loaf so now I will do it on the broiler pan like you do! Thanks for such a good recipe and a healthier way of cooking it!

Loved all the pictures of your furry kids. Aren't they wonderful?! I don't know what I would do without mine!!!

What a sweet post! I so understand about spoiled dogs! LOL.

I may try that meatloaf with turkey? Wonder if it will turn out as good as yours! Looks yummy, but I only eat turkey and chicken in small amounts, no red meats.

The cake however looks so delicious!! Thanks for the great recipes!

Blessings,
Jill

P.S. I'm gonna try to put those snowmen away this weekend!!!!LOL

I had blue toenail polish on one day in church. It was the kind that goes on purple and goes blue in the sunshine. So I had just gone into RS and the lady next to me nearly went into shock when she saw my blue toes. I don't know whether she thought I was too old for such a thing or what but hey....I kinda liked it. I like trying out new stuff. This was the same lady that told me once that she didn't like my "painted hair". Too funny.

O M G ~ Julie, that meatloaf looks crazy delicious. I am trying that this week!!!!
All of your animal babies are adorable ~ especially Cougar!!!!
Have a happy weekend.

Oh Julie...your meatloaf looks divine! Yum Yum! Love the toenails too! Thanks for the poem!

The broiler idea is such a wonderful tip! I love to make meatloaf and have never thought of cooking it that way. I've made a recipe very similar to yours. My favorite is Paula Deen's recipe but I substitute the tomato sauce for a can of Rotel tomatoes to give it a kick. Sure is tasty! And I use the brown sugar too. People can never quite figure it all out.
Looks like you're getting ready for Spring.
Beautiful poem on friends. You are so sweet! Glad to be one of your friends!
Hugs,
Tammy

Hmmmm, the meat loaf sounds good! I love bacon on or with anything. The pets are adorable...if I lived out somewhere, I'd probably adopt a jillion.

LOVE to have pedicures! I normally use red all the time but I do like to venture out in the summer with different, bright colors. Yours look great! I got a purple and a turquoise that I'm anxious to try.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I know what I am having for dinner tomorrow night, Julie. This is so funny, I bought my ground beef with a meat loaf in mind, but didn't want to use my recipe, and I come here tonight and find this most delicious looking one. I too use brown sugar in most of my recipes.
The photos of your helpers are super cute. We have just fallen in love with our new dog, Lucy. I especially enjoyed the one with the two cuties looking out for the sheep.
I know you are going to enjoy seeing Mckayla play soccer.

Now Julie lets talk about toes, I am sitting here barefoot comparing your feet to mine, yours look so smooth, please tell me what you use to have them looking so great, also I have been feeling my face so dry lately. Your skin looks flawless, could you tell me what you use.
By the way love the Easter egg color.
Thanks for sharing, as always I do so enjoy my visits.
Thank you for your prayers for Will.
Hugs,
Sue

I love me some meatloaf, and I love making it new ways.... I'll try this one soon. What percentage of fat do you get in your ground beef? I always have problems with the fat pooling and not draining in the pan.

Just curious.... why is poor Cougar out in the cold. It seems unfair that the other two are in where it is warm and dry and he's out there freezing. Golden Retriever's are house dogs. They need to be near their people. I have one and have had others before they died of old age and they all prefered being indoors.
