DINNER... in the... MOUNTAINS

This is our darling grand daughter Megan...she has the bluest eyes,
and she is a tree climber and a little Princess/Tomboy type of girl...
the best kind of a little girl to be!

Megan, her big brother Britton and their little
cousin Brody... (look at that cute face!)

They had to show grandma all their forts and castles
they'd found while camping in the mountains.

We went up to join them, and a couple of our other kids
for dinner together on Boulder Mountain. See my marshmallow...
perfectly roasted, if you like it that way...some love them burnt!

As it was starting to get dark and we'd packed up to leave, we saw this
sweet deer right close by to us, I was amazed at how calm it was.

As we came off the mountain, the sun was setting...

This time of night always makes me feel so peaceful and calm.

We pulled into our place and stopped to shut the chickens in for the night.
I loved the headlights
spotlighting our old wagon wheel that leans up against the coop.

********

"Something easy....Something good"

" FRUIT TURNOVERS "

1 can refrigerated 8 count crescent roll dough
1 (210z.) can pie filling (apple, cherry..whatever)

Heat oven according to directions on dough can.

Separate dough triangles...
lay out on a cookie sheet.

Place 2 spoonfuls of pie filling in center of triangle;

Lay a second triangle over the first and
crimp edges together with a fork
or your fingers.

Bake 8-10 minutes

GLAZE
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
3-4 tsp. water

Drizzle over turnovers
Sprinkle with sliced almonds, if desired.

They are mouth watering good and the only
problem with them is, they don't last very long!

OK...I just had to add this....I just think it's funny! :D

I seem to be posting more than usual...
I think I am restless waiting for this new
grand daughter to be born... worrying about
my daughter being so uncomfortable.

My bags are packed but I live 2
hours away from her at best!

I know it will happen in it's own good time...
Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be soon now!

Hi Julie
That was a nice post. The mountains are beautiful and your grandchildren are just adorable. Lots of pretty blondes in your family. We enjoy your posts so feel free to post-away if it helps. I can just imagine what you are feeling right now. My two daughters have not had children yet but I can just imagine what I will be like when that time comes. We worry but it all works out. Hope it's soon (for your sake, too).
Hugs, Deb =^..^=x5

I have one of those 'best kind of girls' ;) Kristen has never been in to dolls and princess stuff, she would prefer climbing trees and playing with dinosaurs!
Love the sunset pictures too, so beautiful. What a great day you must have had with the kids.

This little one will come when she's ready, regardless of everyone's anticipation and excitement. I know you can't wait ~ nearly as much as her mom. Will be neat to see pics of her.

Have a blessed week ~

Okay stop, just stop it. Everytime you post a recipe I have to try it. There goes the diet. Oh well...summer is almost over, I won't be going to the pool and getting in a swimsuit anyway.
By the way...I was ready to make some reservations for Emily and Eric for next summer at Rockin' R Ranch...until I saw the cost...$Cha Ching$ A little spendy, but I'm sure it's well worth it.

Rosie said...

Oh, those are precious children! I remember play castles and forts up on the top pasture...sticks, rocks and pretty much anything we could drag up there. My sweet father allowed us to make such a mess...never saying aloud, I'm sure what he was thinking...Oh to be young.

So sorry about the issues with my site accepting comments...I am trying to figure out how to fix it permanently...but for the time being it is only a "band aid"

OH this is hard to wait!
But exiting!
Great pictures! Lovely Grand Kids!
The cartoon was funny :)
You can only introduce adult Chickens to Adult chickens. So i would raise them in the garage until they are big enough to have their own heat at night and then, put them in a big cage or puppy fence with net on top and things for them to roost until they are grown. I did it before. I raised 1 chicken in my veggie garden with a net on top...

What a perfect little jaunt up to a campfire ... and PERFECTLY toasted marshmellows - just exactly how I like them too!

I agree with a princess/tomboy being a great combination for a little girl to be. Makes them well rounded. The grandkids are sure adorable! Here's hoping for that other one to come ANY minute ... your poor daughter must be just miserable by now. :(

(Oh, and yes my siblings and I actually do sing and harmonize together. Trying to pull a song together for my mom's ward was the only stress of our vacation!)
