OFF WITH THE HUB...

Ron and I drove up to Fish Lake for the afternoon the other day.
It is about 30 minutes from our home, if that.

It's a beautiful mountain lake that has been watched over and
preserved since the early 1900's with agreed upon use between
the white man and the Indians. It's depth is 170 feet and the
width is1.5 miles. It sits at nearly 9000 ft. elevation and is almost
6 miles long. It's a very cold lake, one that you wouldn't want to go
water skiing in , it reaches about 50 degrees in the summer. It holds
lots of record breaking size fish! In the winter it freezes and then the
ice fishing is great too.

There is a big old lodge here...my favorite place ever!
It was built in 1911..it has big dance floors in it and
a restaurant too. At one time it was the largest wooden
structure west of the Mississippi, still operates today.

I love these old wooden doors on one end of it~

There is a path that goes the length of the lake...it is my
favorite walk, especially in the Fall season...I can't even
tell you how beautiful it is then. This bench was placed
here by the family of a man who drowned on the lake.

There are lots of wildlife here...
elk, moose (believe me, I know about them..this is
where I walked right into a moose eating in the bushes
as I walked this trail) deer, bobcat, cougar,bear...lots
of eagles and pelicans and all the little critters too.

It's so beautiful simmer, fall and winter...

this is a piece of the trail we love to walk with our dogs.

And you know that Cougar will be in the lake more than on the trail!

The trail is shaded in some area and sunny in other places,

Enjoy YOUR stroll....

This is the back of the lodge, it faces the lake. I love to sit out here
on a night when there is a full moon... watching the moon do it's dance on the lake!

Some big old Papa Bear chairs inside that sit in front of the fire.

I love the old windows that look out over the lake.
You can sit right here and have the most wonderful
food and night or day it's just beautiful.

The old fireplace that sits in the dinning room.

Ron and I, the day we bought our car...we've had lots of
day trips in it, like this one today...hope you enjoyed it too!

(Yes, we are still waiting for that baby!)
(I'll keep you posted!)

Julie, that lake and lodge are spectacular! I just told my hubby that we might need to visit there one day... looks cooler than East Texas right now... lol. Yes, it is amazing how blogging connects a network of women who share a love of God, of family and of the wonders of daily life. We are blessed to have the good fortune of enjoying this odd connection... who would have ever thought? LOL! You can teach old dogs some new tricks! Have a wonderful day.

I cannot believe you are still waiting for the baby! But first babies can be reluctant to leave their wonderful, warm, safe home. Mine was 3 weeks late! Ugh! Your poor daughter, she must be going nuts.
o
Thank you for all your sweet comments on my blog. You are right I adore that little Hazie, more than I can say. She has taught me more than about anyone I have ever known.

Take good care, that little girl will be here soon!

Would love to join you on that wonderful walk Julie!
When we went to the Lake District last year,my favourite walks were round the lakes there..much nicer and easier on the legs...than hiking up the fells!
Bella would be in the water all the time...just like Cougar.

Hi Julie,
I found you via a few blogs I frequent! Your blog is very sweet, filled with family, and the beautiful Utah countryside! I love those RED CLIFFS!!! I was born in Utah (my parents moved back to Utah some time ago from California where I am at), so this brings back some memories of Summer trips out to visit with my parents & family. :)
Glad I found you! By the way...one of my sister's names is, Julie, and I noticed your grandbaby will be named, Sophia. Our youngest daughter has a baby girl due in November, they plan on naming her..Sopie! :)
Blessings to you,
