FALL TIMES and THE WINNER of the GIVEAWAY IS....

Have you noticed? FALL....is here!

Our temps have dropped and that crisp chill is in the morning
air and I am loving it! How about you?

Since we had such a tiny bit of Summer, I am so hoping for a
nice, long, warm Fall. I have decorated my home for Fall and
everything looks good and smells so wonderful. I thought I would
share a simple recipe with you today....perfect for Fall.

But first, I have to throw this in...these children
belong to my daughters Tiffany and Lindsey.

The one on your left is Sophia, she loves to stick her tongue out and
apparently so does her cousin Caleb on your right! Aren't they cute?!

(That was spoken like a true grandma don't you think?! LOL

NOW...
Sometimes a whole dish of apple crisp is just too much...
I end up eating it all (so I can get that dish washed ;D)
Here's a recipe for two people...enjoy!

"APPLE CRISP FOR TWO"

(Dish needed...4"W. X 6"L.
One inch deep and oven proof)

1/3 C. Flour
1/3 C. Oatmeal, quick
1/3 Cup brown sugar
a pinch of salt
1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
a pinch of nutmeg
3 T. Butter

Mix it all of this up with fingers
or with a pie crust mixer.

Until it looks like this...

Peel 2 Granny Smith apples or your favorite
Slice them up and lay them in your dish.

Sprinkle topping mixture over the apples and tap down.

Place on a cookie sheet,
Bake at 375* for
30-35 minutes, or
12 min. in microwave.

Serve hot with ice cream or whipped cream.
See, that was so easy and it smells and tastes
DELICIOUS FOR FALL.

Some one had a birthday!

Caleb turned 3 and he got a bike
helmet and this = One happy kid!

He also had a birthday cake that
looked just like his bike...lucky boy!

Thanks also for the yummy recipe. I love apple crisps (we call them apple crumbles over here) and they are indeed very "dangerous" when there are leftovers!

Hope the rest of the week is lovely and thanks so much again.

Best wishes,
Natasha.

Julie,

I love Autumn... It is so wonderful and cool after the long hot summers. The bright colors of the leaves seem like they are splashed across the clear Carolina Blue skies when I look up in my tree surrounded yard, and then they fall and make a beautiful new carpet in my yard.
Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. Your babies are certainly something you should be braggin' about ...too cute!!! :-) Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement. WE are on Cloud Nine that Justin is out of the war zone. Grateful!! Hugs to you. God bless!

Hi my friend, I'm so sad that I didn't win your apron. I'm going to make your apple crisp for my hubby.

I am going to Ephraim with my daughter, granddaughter, mother, niece - her daughters, and my sister-in-law on Sat. October 9th. I missed our Allred mother/daughter reunion while I was in the hospital, but I want to go before winter.

Your Grandchildren are growing so quickly. I do think the grandchildren grow far more quickly than their parents, our children. What's up with that? The two little cousins look very much like siblings in the side by side photos.

Apple crisp and Autumn seem to go together,. I can't wait to decorate my dining room for Fall, maybe this afternoon!

Congratulations to the winner~

That apple crisp looks devine. I'll have to try it with peaches too...heehee.
My grandmother used to use a crumble topping that included a yellow cake mix and butter...that's it. She would cut the butter into the cake mix, then sprinkle it on the top of peaches or apples, etc...I've tried to duplicate it, but I'm obviously not getting measurements correct because mine is not turning out right. DARN! I can't find the recipe either. It is one of those recipes that seem so simple that writing it down isn't necessary and anyone could do it. Then along comes me. That's where the trouble starts.
The babies look so much alike. I think it's the eyes and cheecks. I was actually thinking it was the same baby and that the photo on the right was a little bit older with a lot more hair.

They are just adorable!

It does feel like fall in the mornings around here but by afternoon we're back in the 90's!

I often make crisps for two also. We'd eat a whole big pan of it if I made it so the little ones are better for us. I make up a bunch of crisp topping and keep it in the freezer. That way I can just cut up the apples and sprinkle. I can even make just one!

Hi Julie, I'm having difficulty leaving a comment on your posts so will try this one for all! :-) I love your decor as well as the recipes. Either or both of those with a cup of coffee sounds great!
Do you have 2 Caleb's or is the baby pic just an earlier one of him? Regardless, both are totally adorable and I love their tongues sticking out...so cute. I adore your family values...and wish that way of believing and living was more prevalent. Some kids I see are rarely with their parents and it makes me so sad.

Hope you enjoy your weekend and yay for fall!

xoxo
