OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY FUN....

As the Halloween party got started...it was looking pretty spookie around grandma and grandpa's house!

"What is a vampire's favorite holiday?" ......."Fangs-giving!"/ and many more jokes for grandma to guess!!! It was so much fun to have a party for our grands..they loved every bit of it, so it was all worth it! Later, while cuddling with one of them, I felt so at peace. This is what it's all about...FAMILY....I want to be with them for all time and all eternity.

The ole' spider has been hanging around just long enough to spin his web for YOU, deerie!

" Cream Cheese Pumpkin Muffins "

Mix and set aside: 1 (8oz.) cream cheese, softened....1 egg....1 T. sugar....1 tsp. lemon rind...set aside.
Beat 2 eggs slightly....2 C. sugar....1 can pumpkin...1/2 C. oil...stir into dry ingredients below...

2 1/2 C. flour....3 tsps. pumpkin pie spice....1 tsp. baking soda....1/2 tsp. salt... add 1/2 C. pecans and 1/2 c. choc. chips.

divide 1/2 the batter...put 1/2 into muffin tins...make a little indention, add a tsp. of the filling...cover this with the other 1/2 of the batter. I even crushed soft ginger cookies and sprinkled this on top~
Bake at 350* for 20 minutes. makes 24... delicious muffins

These skeletons always turn out so cute and they are so good...all for the grand kids delight! Just pull back the paper off the cupcake, insert half a marshmallow and frost! Jr. Mints for eyes, chocolate chip for the nose and sliced almonds for teeth.

This big old spider cake is nummy too...the inside of his belly is full of green jello jigglers, so when you cut into it, that all comes falling out! The kids loved this! Cook the cake in 2 rounds...cut a small circle out of one round for the head. Fill the empty circle with jello jigglers made a bit earlier, lay the second round on top of this and frost. ( I forgot and had to make due with a 9x13 cake, but it worked too)

Hope this won't gross you out...the grands loved it! The cat even looked at it twice! It's a "Cat Litter cake" and it's really good. Brownies, frosting, cookie crumbs, softened tootsie rolls...just fun for Halloween!

~Take home treats for the grands~ And they made Marshmallow Mummies to take home too. (Just 3 marshmallows stuck together with toothpicks and wrapped in strips of fruit leather and jellied eyes)

This chili is so good every time...I could live on it!

I gathered up all these little spooks...they are so cute!

We had lots of fun as we gathered the other night for our Halloween party, I took a picture of all of us and the spread on the bar, but then I was deleting a picture on my camera and it jumped to that one and deleted it..and it was the only one I had taken too! Oh well, hope you get the idea of it anyway. I made lots of goodies and a big pot of that good chili I posted about a little while back, others brought salads..we had way too much to eat but all the goodies made the grand children happy, so it was worth it!
It's getting ready to snow here and we are at 7000ft. so we will get some..seems like every year just in time for Halloween it snows..guess it is that time of year. Stay warm and cozy and enjoy it all anyway!

"Listen...the wind is rising and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our Summer evenings... now for October eve's!

One of those little grand darlings was hurrying home last week after school and I asked her why she was in such a hurry. "We get to go to my Grandma's tonight" was her excited reply as she never missed a step hurrying on her way.

This is only odd because usually she's the very last person to cross the street on her way home from school and most of the time she's so slow that I'm gone when she crosses the street. But, not on the night she get's to go to Grandma's house. I can sure tell they LLLLOOOVVVEEE their Grandma.

Julie,
I love your blog! ( I blog hopped from The Idea Room). Looks like you had a grand time with your Halloween party.

I had to leave a comment because my husband's family is from your neck of the woods. His grandparents were from Loa. We love to spend time every summer camping on Boulder Mountain and exploring Capitol Reef. Hubby's dream spot to build a home is in a location just like yours!

Julie,
Thanks for commenting on my blog.
My husbands grandparents were Ray & Clay (Taylor)Jackson...they moved from Loa years ago, but both grew up there and their 5 sons were all born there. We haven't been to the area in about 5 years (we've been living in AZ, plus some other life complications...) but now that we are back in Utah, we plan on visiting Wayne County next summer for sure!

We had some snow here on the Wasatch Front today. Nothing sticking though. Your party looks so fun. Your grands are adorable. Isn't it just so fun to have them? We had your crockpot chicken the other night. Huge hit. Thanks again for the recipe. Lorraine's home is right across the street from the Kville tabernacle. We live in a fun neighborhood. Mimi

Julie,
I came here from Valerie's blog. I love the Halloween party ideas. I'm having my family over on Halloween. I figured the trick-or-treating will be the activity..what kind of lame grandma am I? Your blog is fun and full of ideas. Thanks for letting me stop by. (I guess there's really nothing you can do about it, but thanks anyway)

Hi Julie,
What great fun it looks like you all had. I am always so pleased when I see families getting together. You have such a beautiful family, isn't being a grandparent the neatest thing. I tell my children that If I knew it was going to be this much fun, I would of had them first. lol. Just keep right on enjoying them.
Blessings,

Great to hear your party turned out great! It looks like I will be around for our family Halloween party after all -- we changed it to Saturday because Monday came and too many of us were sick. I am so blessed to have all my grandkids around me --- lucky me indeed! I like the spider cake but for the cat litter --- well I'd have to try it with my eyes closed plus try not to think about it -- hehe.. Happy Halloween -- Kristeen (The Gough Inn)

Sounds like all the grandkids had a blast at your house! Most of my grandkids live in Utah, to far away from me in California to enjoy them this time of the year. Love all your recipes, how fun!

That kitty litter cake is sooo gross! I will have to try it out for our neighborhood Halloween party. What a fun grandma you are! My mom had a little party similar to that...we are so lucky to have Drake's grandparents (both sets) so close to us. Moms are great! Thanks for the comment on my blog. Don't feel bad if I don't get you on my side bar. I will try, I just am not quite sure how to do it. I am technologically handicapped!

What a wonderful fun filled and delicious time! The little one in the lion costume reminds me of when my daughter was in kindergarten. The Lion King had started showing and she loved it. She wanted me to make her a lion king costume, which I did and she was as proud as a lion on Halloween. You sure know how to have a good time! blessings,Kathleen
