MORE BIRTHDAY FUN...

It was also my husbands birthday this past week....So I made him this!
A rich Chocolate Cake with a Ganache all over it...it was SO good...the two of us ate it all~

Can you blame us...look at this baby!
The next day, it was even better because the
chocolate had "set up" all over and inside of it!

I got the recipe from my friend Brandi at her blog;
"Queen of My Kingdom"

~So here it is just for all of you sweet friends~

Take a Duncan Hines Chocolate cake mix,
make it according to the directions,

But add: 1 cup of Sour Cream
1 cup Chocolate Chips
(I added) 1/4 Baking Coco
and 1/2 cup of nuts
Bake according to directions. Cool in pans
for 30 min. then on wire rack.

Now, you can do the regular chocolate frosting,
with powdered sugar...but I did a Ganache~

~Chocolate Ganache Frosting~

Cut or break up;
8 oz. Bittersweet Chocolate, set aside-

Put 1 cup heavy cream in a bowl,
then in the microwave just until hot,
about 3 minutes,
Pour over chocolate and let set
until chocolate is melted.

Add: 1 tsp. Vanilla
and a pinch of salt

Stir til smooth...cool slightly
before using.

With a meat fork, poke holes in the cake
and then pour ganache all over both layers.

I sprinkled sliced almonds on top,

Let it cool and set up....ENJOY~

I went with my daughter for her ultrasound (as was mentioned in the previous post)...
here we are waiting for the news.....IT'S A GIRL~

We shopped most of the day...I was tired...but it was a good tired!
The kids got me a birthday cake!

And gave me a nice gift....I got calls from all my kids...they are so kind and generous!

Have you heard of the... "VOCA PEOPLE"...(go to You Tube music)....
They are an international vocal theater performance group.
They do everything acapella, they are strangely wonderful
as they combine several songs and put actions to the song.

Our little 2 year old grandson Caleb loves them...
he can imitate them and their actions perfectly, it is so fun to watch!

Had to share this with you too...(it has nothing to do with me)
..but I thought it was so cool...Apparently this really happened in Maryland.

Some people came home from work to find this little Bambi sleeping on their couch!
It had followed their dog in through the doggie door! SO CUTE!

Well, have a good weekend my friends, I hope for your sakes Spring has sprung
in your area...we had a blizzard today with wind and snow! But I am still watching
for that first brave little Robin! Love to all~

That cake looks delish. I'm not a big chocolate fan (weird, I know) but my husband is, so I'll have to make it for him.
We had a blizzard here today too, in fact it's still storming...but in the midst of the snow this afternoon, I saw a Robin!!! Yay!

I love the birdie sign. Beautiful. I know you just have to walk on cloud nine with all those grandbabies around your feet and more on the way. So much fun to look forward to. Can't wait.
Can you believe that about the fawn???? Where is its mama????? poor little thing. And the doggie let it come in. What a special pup that must be. Thank you for sharing your happy days with us. Happy Birthday! The cakes look amazing...the little fawn picture is totally sweet but my favorite picture of all is your little Grandson intent on the TV like that.

It reminded me so much of my Granddaughters when they were small watching the Wiggles...unable to turn away!

Really sweet post.

And I love your blog background. Cherries AND polka dots. How could anything be wrong in the world with this background in front of me at the moment!

Your sign is so nice.

Years ago my husband picked up a little deer whose mom and twin got hit by a semi. It was smaller (it was REAL small~~like a rut) than most dogs and we kept it in the house. It would curl up on your lap or in the corner. We fed it with a bottle, named him Lucky and at night you put it in the box and it slept on night till morning. Lived about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks and died. We always wondered if it didn't get hurt when it rolled under the truck.

Oh my goodness that cake looks amazing. It made my mouth water! Happy Birthday to the two of you, and congrats on the baby girl.

After reading your post I wrote down the recipe for that cake and went to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients. After putting everything into my basket I looked for the Duncan Hines Chocolate cake mix and to my disappointment it's not sold in the grocery stores in my town. I'm starting to think they don't sell it in Canada.. I can make it with regular chocolate cake mix though right? I hope so! I'm so anxious to make it for our house warming party!

Congratulations on the baby girl! Can't wait to see pictures when she's born. All your children & grandbabies are beautiful.

Hi Julie!
I see your comments on some of the blogs I read, so I had to come over and say hello! It's a girl? Yippee! We have four girl grands and one boy with one more on the way. Isn't it FUN? Your chocolate cake looks amazing!

So exciting about the new baby girl!

The cake looks awesome! Love ganache and always keep a stash in my frig, for those special late night cravings!

Poor little fawn's mother was probably frantic. Dog looks like part Beagle and I'm surprised the dog would let the deer in the house!
